After a break of almost four years since the release of her last album, Eliot Sumner has left behind her previous band name ‘I Blame Coco’, resurfacing forcefully with a new E.P., ‘Information’.
This change in name has been matched by a shift in musical direction, ‘Information’ displaying a more pronounced darkness when compared with Sumner’s older work. The second track ‘Come Friday’ shows her electro-pop style hasn’t faded, but a new tone is set in an opening piece that explores the more sinister side of the Information and Internet Age. Duncan Mill’s production (known for his work with The Vaccines and Spector) also provides a dramatic backdrop to Sumner’s smoky, androgynous vocals, and the result is infectious.
Intense and mysterious, this exciting return promises much for her forthcoming album.
