Blanco White is the guise of guitarist, singer and songwriter Josh Edwards (born July 21, 1991), a Brit whose heart belongs in southern Spain and the Andean mountains. The name Blanco White stems from Spanish writer José María Blanco White. It was a trip to South America as a kid at age 10 that kick-started his obsession with all things Spanish, music in particular. At university Josh threw himself into studying Spanish, and originally from London, Edwards travelled to Cadiz (Spain) to study flamenco guitar under the guidance of Nono Garcìa, before going to Sucre (Bolivia) where he was introduced to traditional Andean musicà folklòrica (folk music) and learnt to play the charango, an Andean instrument. Both instruments along with the places are pivotal to Blanco White's songwriting and otherworldly tunes, and architecture is a prominent feature in the visual art for the project. In 2014, he brought together Andalusian and Latin American influences while keeping his English musical roots, which launched his solo project Blanco White.

In 2016, Blanco White signed with Yucatan Records based in London. A trio of increasingly accomplished EPs released between 2016 and last summer have seen him become a streaming sensation with 150m+ streams globally, a staple of thousands of Spotify playlists, now with fans all over the world. With every release Blanco White has gone up a gear, from the haunting acoustic sound of 2016’s The Wind Rose EP to the meatier, more expansive recent single Desert Days off his debut album ‘On the Other Side’ which is out June 5th 2020. Between this he released two other EPs Colder Heavens in 2017 and The Nocturne in 2018. By the release of ‘The Nocturne’, Blanco White was selling out shows from Europe to the States.
